About
Ajay Lakhotia is the founder and chief executive of StockGro, a Bengaluru-based stock-market research and advisory platform run by AssetGro Fintech. He came to entrepreneurship from venture capital: before starting StockGro in 2020 he set up and led two global funds' investing in India, Vertex Ventures and Fosun Capital, backing more than a dozen Indian technology startups over about a decade, and worked on investment corridors between India and Singapore and India and China. His career of roughly 20 years spans consulting, investment banking and venture capital, and he has served on the boards of companies including Yatra and FirstCry. YourStory lists his earlier employers as including ICICI Bank, Capgemini, IDG Ventures India, Gravity Capital and Kissht, and his education as the Indian School of Business. StockGro began as a platform where users could practise trading with virtual money and learn from experts; in late 2022 Lakhotia said it had over 25 million users and that its core audience was people aged 18 to 25. It now offers research and trade ideas from SEBI-registered analysts and an AI research assistant called Stoxo, and says it has served more than 4.5 crore users.
StockGro raised ₹150 crore in a Series B round from Param Capital founder Mukul Agrawal in December 2025 and, within the same month, $13 million in a Series B1 round from existing investor BITKRAFT Ventures. The company says it has raised $110 million in equity in total, from backers including General Catalyst, Roots Ventures and Nazara co-founder Nitish Mittersain. On 26 September 2026 AssetGro Fintech confidentially pre-filed draft IPO papers with SEBI and the stock exchanges; PTI reported a planned issue of ₹2,000-2,500 crore, including a fresh issue of about ₹800 crore.
