One of very few Indian consumer-internet founders to reach profitability after listing. Won food delivery, then won quick commerce with the Blinkit acquisition — a call made early and against the consensus. Survived a decade of margin pressure and an aggressive rival.

About
Co-founded the restaurant listings site Foodiebay in 2008 while working at Bain, renaming it Zomato in 2010 and expanding into food delivery. Stepped down as chief executive of parent company Eternal on 1 February 2026, handing the role to Blinkit's Albinder Dhindsa, and continues as vice chairman.
An IIT Delhi graduate, he worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, where the sight of colleagues queuing to read paper lunch menus led him and Pankaj Chaddah to scan and upload them. That side project became Foodiebay in 2008 and Zomato in 2010. He has led the company through its move into food delivery, the acquisitions of Uber Eats India and Blinkit, a 2021 public listing, and the 2025 rename to Eternal.
