An IIT Roorkee mechanical engineering graduate, he was working at Schlumberger when he and Shashank Kumar hit a wall trying to collect online payments for a student crowdfunding project. They spent months winning bank approvals before launching Razorpay in 2014 and joining Y Combinator's winter 2015 batch. He leads the company as chief executive, and has taken it from a single payment gateway into payouts, neobanking and lending.
