Ritesh Agarwal
Founder & CEO, OYO
About
Founded Oravel Stays in 2013 at nineteen, pivoting it into the budget-hotel chain OYO. A Thiel Fellow, and among the youngest founders to lead an Indian company of this scale.
He grew up in Bissam Cuttack, Odisha, and moved to Delhi as a teenager, spending time in budget hotels and noticing how unpredictable they were. He started Oravel Stays and, at nineteen, won a Thiel Fellowship — the programme that pays founders to skip or leave university — which funded the pivot to OYO. He remains chief executive, and led the company through a debt-funded global expansion, a severe pandemic contraction and a subsequent restructuring.
