About
Vivek Kumar is the founder and chief executive of Alive App, a Bengaluru platform that designs and sells curated leisure experiences, from pottery workshops and supper clubs to adventure outings, working with local creators and venues and taking a share of each booking. He spent more than a decade in India's startup ecosystem before starting it: first as a technologist, then as a co-founder of a startup incubator and accelerator (Excubator), and later as an investor, serving as Entrepreneur First's funding manager in India and leading its investments in Indian portfolio companies. He is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore. Kumar has said that while taking a break in late 2022 he found Bengaluru's weekend options limited to cafes, pubs and films, and he founded Alive in 2023, starting with five pilot experiences at venues including the Leela Palace and Prestige and Embassy properties, promoted over WhatsApp groups. Alive raised ₹6 crore in a pre-seed round led by Powerhouse Ventures in November 2025 and a $1 million seed round led by Powerhouse with Flipkart Ventures in September 2026.
At the time of its November 2025 pre-seed, Alive said it was live in Bengaluru and Hyderabad with more than 125 experiences and had partnered with The Leela Palace, Embassy International Riding School, Prestige Golfshire and the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence. By September 2026 it operated in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Goa, with more than 500 experiences from over 400 creators and partners, and was adding about 100 experiences a month. The company reported its first profitable quarter in Bengaluru, its oldest and largest market, and said it was targeting threefold revenue growth with a focus on how often users book.
