DoorDash opens first India office in Hyderabad, plans 3,000 staff

US local commerce company DoorDash has opened its first Indian office in Hyderabad, starting with 500 people and aiming for more than 3,000 within two years. The hub will run customer experience and back-office work for DoorDash's global platform, not a consumer delivery service in India.

DoorDash, the US-listed local commerce platform, opened its first office in India on 30 September 2026: a talent hub in Hyderabad's Hitec City. The company is starting with 500 professionals and plans to take headcount above 3,000 within the next two years, according to a company release reported by YourStory, Mint and Outlook Business.

Telangana's IT and Industries minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated the facility with DoorDash chief financial officer Ravi Inukonda, Jenna Kohnke, senior director of workforce strategy and talent acquisition operations, and Sai Krishna, IT adviser to the Telangana government.

What the Hyderabad hub will do

The office will initially house DoorDash's Customer Experience and Integrity (CXI) team and General and Administrative staff. It becomes the company's third in-house CXI service centre worldwide, after Tempe in Arizona and Mexico City, according to the release carried by Outlook Business. The release adds that Hyderabad will run the customer support organisation as an extension of the global CXI function, and that more specialised integrity, fraud-review and technical work may be added over time.

Staff in Hyderabad will support a platform that serves more than 56 million monthly active consumers across markets with a combined population of over one billion. The work covers consumers, merchants and Dashers, DoorDash's term for its delivery partners.

The opening is a global capability centre rather than a consumer launch: none of the reports say DoorDash will start food or grocery delivery in India.

What was said

Sridhar Babu said DoorDash's choice of Hyderabad validated the city's rise as a global talent hub, and described the company as a strong addition to the city's hyperlocal digital commerce ecosystem. He added that the significance went beyond job creation, because it showed global digital businesses could run important parts of their operations from the city.

"Establishing DoorDash's first hub in India is an important milestone in expanding our global operations network," Kohnke said in the release.

About DoorDash

DoorDash was founded in 2013 by four Stanford University students, Mint reported, and co-founder Andy Fang once described it as a logistics company first. It connects local restaurants and stores with customers and relies on gig-economy couriers, a model Mint notes Indian platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato drew on.

The company operates in more than 40 countries, mainly across North America, Europe and Oceania, and also runs the Wolt and Deliveroo brands. The release says it is the largest delivery player in the US, with more than 65% market share there and over $100 billion in marketplace gross order value in 2025.
