Sports broadcasting technology startup Quidich Innovation Labs has raised an undisclosed amount in a funding round led by Centre Court Capital, a venture capital firm focused on sports tech and gaming, backed by the Sajjan Jindal Family Trust. The fresh capital injection is set to propel Quidich's expansion into new sports and geographies, while further developing its cutting-edge technology stack, the company announced.
Quidich Innovation Labs, founded in 2013 by Rahat Kulshreshtha and Gaurav Mehta, initially started as a drone technology company. However, in 2019, the company pivoted to enhancing live sports broadcasting through advanced technological solutions, including specialized camera systems, computer vision, and augmented reality. "Once we got into sports, our entire focus has been on building layers of technology using artificial intelligence, computer vision, and the power of game engines to create compelling storytelling tools and applications for broadcast," Rahat Kulshreshtha, co-founder of Quidich, shared with ET.
Quidich has forged partnerships with high-profile clients such as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), International Cricket Council (ICC), Sky Sports and Sunset+Vine in the United Kingdom, Channel 7 in Australia, and SuperSport in South Africa, among others. The company has also recently expanded its presence by establishing offices in London and the United Arab Emirates.
The investment is part of Centre Court Capital’s Rs 350 crore fund, launched last month, aimed at driving innovation in the sports technology sector. "As sports broadcast technology undergoes a sector-wide transformation, broadcasters and leagues are searching for partners to guide them into a new era. We believe that Quidich’s dedication and unwavering commitment to quality, demonstrated through their consistent pursuit of excellence in cricket broadcasting, positions them as the leaders for this transformation," said Mustafa Ghouse, general partner at Centre Court Capital.
With this new funding, Quidich Innovation Labs is poised to lead the next wave of innovation in sports broadcasting, leveraging AI, computer vision, and game engine technology to transform how sports are experienced globally. The company's growth trajectory highlights its commitment to pushing the boundaries of sports broadcasting and providing broadcasters with the tools needed to enhance viewer engagement and storytelling.
