Water management startup DigitalPaani secures $1.2 million in funding from Elemental Excelerator

DigitalPaani, a water management startup founded by father-daughter duo Mansi Jain and Rajesh Jain, has secured $1.2 million in funding. The round was led by Elemental Excelerator and included participation from Enzia, Peer Cheque, SAE, DevC, Bharat Founders Fund, and angel investors Ashish Goel (Urban Ladder founder) and Mohit Tandon (Delhivery cofounder).

DigitalPaani utilizes an IoT-enabled platform to optimize wastewater treatment plant operations, leading to reduced downtime and increased water reuse. This innovative technology has demonstrably yielded a 30% increase in treatment capacity and a 66% cost savings at existing commercial sites.

The fresh capital will empower DigitalPaani to scale its technology to more wastewater treatment plants across India, explore future markets, and unlock additional sales channels.

"This fundraise is crucial in enabling us to address water scarcity and pollution issues at scale," states Mansi Jain, CEO and cofounder of DigitalPaani. "We're excited to expand our offerings and help facilities across the country unlock the power of DigitalPaani."

Why it matters: While cities in India are focused on installing more water distribution and treatment plants, they lack operational efficiency tools, leading to the inability to handle complex operations and prevent the discharge of untreated effluent into surrounding water. DigitalPaani’s IoT system improves plant management through not only identifying problems, but also by recommending changes in operating parameters, training and guiding every task executed by the operations team.

The startup's platform functions like a "medical doctor for water systems," continuously monitoring infrastructure performance, identifying issues, and recommending remedial actions. This includes dosages, equipment settings, process adjustments, and operator instructions, ensuring optimal water treatment.

Dawn Lippert, founder and CEO of Elemental Excelerator, expressed their commitment to supporting technologies with profound climate and community impact. "DigitalPaani, led by a dedicated team of ecopreneurs, perfectly aligns with our mission. Their innovative technology holds significant promise for transforming India's water systems," Lippert stated.

DigitalPaani's innovative approach to wastewater management holds immense potential for addressing water scarcity and pollution challenges. With the support of this funding, the startup is well-positioned to make a significant impact on both the environment and the lives of millions of people in India.
