Aatur Shashikant Thakkar is the chief executive officer and principal officer of Alliance Insurance Brokers, a Mumbai-based insurance and reinsurance broker. He took over the role in January 2026 from his father, Shashikant Thakkar, who founded the firm and remains with it as a director giving strategic guidance. The younger Thakkar has spent more than two decades at Alliance and was closely involved in its operations before becoming CEO. On taking charge he set a target of growing premiums under management to ₹5,000 crore within three years, from more than ₹1,500 crore at the end of FY25, and of doubling the reinsurance business, using B2B channels, corporate insurance, partnerships and digital platforms. In September 2026 Mint reported that the company had begun a process to sell about 30% to institutional investors to raise ₹800-900 crore through a mix of new and existing shares, advised by O3 Capital, with long-time investor Access Asset Managers expected to exit. The money is meant to take Alliance into India's tier 2 and tier 3 cities and to grow its reinsurance work in West Asia and Africa.
