Alliance Insurance Brokers seeks up to ₹900 crore in 30% stake sale

Alliance Insurance Brokers has started a process to sell roughly 30% of the company for ₹800-900 crore through a mix of new and existing shares, Mint reported. The deal would fund expansion into smaller Indian cities and overseas reinsurance, and let a ten-year investor exit.

Mumbai-based Alliance Insurance Brokers has begun a process to sell a minority stake of about 30% to institutional investors, aiming to raise ₹800-900 crore, Mint reported on 1 October 2026, citing two people familiar with the matter. The deal would combine a primary issue of fresh shares with a secondary sale, and the company has hired O3 Capital as adviser.

Existing investor Access Asset Managers is expected to sell its entire holding, which it has held for about ten years, as part of the transaction. The company, Access and O3 Capital did not respond to Mint's emails, and the people said the terms could change depending on who the incoming investor is.

What the money is for

According to Mint, the fresh capital is likely to go into deepening Alliance's presence in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India, and into building its reinsurance business abroad, including in West Asia and Africa. The company may pursue that growth both organically and through acquisitions.

About Alliance Insurance Brokers

Industry veteran SV Thakkar founded Alliance Insurance Brokers in 2003. The Mumbai company works as an insurance broker, risk manager and reinsurance broker, offering tailored insurance programmes, claims management, insurance audits and renewal reviews.

Access invested ₹55 crore in 2016 for roughly 25-26% of Alliance, according to media reports cited by Mint; the promoters hold the rest.
