Motilal Oswal fund sells 2% of Molbio Diagnostics for ₹306 crore

Motilal Oswal Alternates has sold a little over 2% of Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics for about ₹306 crore through open-market transactions on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, according to BSE bulk-deal data reported by PTI.

The seller was Business Excellence Trust III, a fund managed by Motilal Oswal Alternates. It sold 23.28 lakh shares at an average of ₹1,315.01 each, for a total of ₹306.26 crore.

Who bought

HDFC Mutual Fund bought 23 lakh Molbio shares, about a 2% stake, at an average price of ₹1,315 apiece, paying ₹302.45 crore. The exchange data did not identify the other buyers. Whalesbook, which tracked the day's bulk deals, described HDFC Mutual Fund's purchase as a new position of 1.99%.

Molbio's shares rose 4.07% to close at ₹1,309.45 on the BSE that day.

A second sale in a week

Business Excellence Trust III held 11.52% of Molbio as of August 2026. A week earlier it had sold a 2.6% stake in the company for ₹394 crore. With this latest sale of just over 2%, the fund has now reduced its holding twice in quick succession, though it remains a significant shareholder on the reported numbers.

Taken together, the two transactions add up to roughly 4.6% of Molbio sold for about ₹700 crore in the space of a week. The average price in the latest sale, ₹1,315.01, was a little above the stock's closing price of ₹1,309.45 that day.

No reason for the sale was given in the reports, and neither Motilal Oswal Alternates nor Molbio commented on the transactions in the coverage reviewed.
